The client works with both local and international clients and is known for their expertise in the field of eating disorders. Their team includes experienced psychologists, social workers, dietitians and more. The setting is a large villa with a great garden, swimming pool, gym and a view of Table Mountain!

Within the function of applied psychology intern you will mainly observe the first weeks of your internship, you will also be present at the clients’ meals and you will supervise after the meals. After your first few weeks you become more involved with the clients, they all follow their own path divided into different phases. Clients with severe underweight, for example, do individual activities / assignments in which you assist in the phase. Clients in their final phase of the program will support you in drawing up work schedules and activities, and you will also go shopping for clothing and groceries with them. Social Work internship

What will you do?

Our client is a “Child Protection Agency”. They have various projects in which they help young people to get back on track and / or protect them. The projects are based on different target groups or end goals. The client is located outside of the city in a 30-minute drive, you also have the option to come here by public transport. Within the position of Social Work intern you will mainly be deployed on the largest project of the organization. This is a project in which boys and girls who have a high chance of taking the criminal path due to background and / or behavioral problems enter a 6-month process.

You guide this “at-risk” youth and their home environment to get everything back in line. After 6 months, they remain under surveillance for 12 months. In addition, they have an aftercare program at the same school where they help children with homework, take care of food, set up activities and arrange transport to home. This is because otherwise the children have to go home alone and there the parents have no supporting role.
